The 93rd
Academy Award ceremony honored the best films of 2020 and early 2021. It filmed
inside of Los Angeles, at both Union Station and Dolby Theater on 25th
April 2021. Presented by the Academy of Motion Picture And
Science (AMPAS). The
Nominations are announced on 15th March 2021. Due to the impact of the
COVID-19 pandemic on cinemas the ceremony took two months later than originally
planned.
It proved
to be the night’s big winner for “Nomadland” to win a total of 3 awards for
Best Picture, Best Actress via Frances
McDormand and Best Director via Chloé Zhao's, becoming the first women of color to win the
academy award and second women ever to win. Anthony Hopkins trophies in
the Best Actor category for “The Father,” winning over the late Chadwick
Boseman. This ceremony marked
that no film won more than three awards for the first time since 78th Academy
Awards in 2006.
