Oppo is a popular
brand in smartphones. Now Oppo could arrive into the automobile
sector soon. This Chinese smartphone company is the biggest smartphone
manufacturer in China. OnePlus, Vivo and Realme are the child companies
(sub-company) of it.
According to media reports, Oppo is planning to enter the EV
segment by building its own car. Oppo’s CEO Tony Chen reportedly met Tesla
suppliers and manufacturers. As well as the company was also invited to SAIC
Developers Conference, which discussed the development of software services
for smart electric vehicles.
According to news from related channels, Oppo’s CEO Tony
Chen met with CATL China Passenger Car Division and China Automotive Research
Institute in the past two weeks. And Tony Chen quoted by Chinese media saying
that "Even in car manufacturing, we will focus on areas that Oppo can
perform well. If automakers can't build good cars and Oppo has the strength, we
will try it in the future."
The company has intervened in the preparation of the
autonomous driving team. They started working on market research, indeed
investigations, and understandings about car building.
Earlier, smartphone manufacturer companies like Xiaomi,
Huawei and Apple are entering into the global EV market. And these companies have
already started work on building their own cars.
